Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Thank you for this information. I must admit, I was disappointed when I was told that the Penmans had no clan/tartan. I have a photo of my grandfather at age 5 in a little kilt, and when I asked about that, was told that photographers always have props to use, and it probably didn't mean anything. I'd been checking all those photos of tartans, trying to find the pattern in the one he was wearing.
