George Penney

I have a photograph, possibly taken in Halifax circa 1942,
of my first cousin, one generation removed, Able Seaman
George Maxwell Penney, Royal Navy, who was serving on
the minesweeper HMS Magdalen when he was hit and
killed by a train north of the Jubilee Road overhead bridge
around 6 a.m., Dec. 29, 1942. In the photograph, Max is
standing beside a woman who cannot be identified by
family members.

Any person who may have known Max during his wartime
service in Halifax or who has information surrounding the
circumstances of his death is requested to contact:

Frank Jones, 153 Basinview Dr., Bedford, N.S. B4A 3J9;
phone (1+902) 835-2151; e-mail - ax003@chebucto.ns.ca -
