PENNIMAN Family Photograph Album
I've "rescued" an old photograph album which appears to have belonged to the PENNIMAN Family of Massachusetts and includes a number of identified photographs belonging to related families including OBRINE, COOK, DARLING, PENNIMAN, THOMPSON, SANBORN, BRADFORD, ALDRICH, BULLOCK, HOBBS, PIERCE, and SYMONDS.
I believe the "L.M.P" referenced through out is referring to Louise Maria PENNIMAN. A description of the photographs found in the album follows:

Based on very limited research I believe that the COOK photographs are of Willis COOK b. 5 Sept 1803 at Cumberland, Rhode Island to parents Col. Levi COOK and his wife Rhonda DARLING.Willis married Cyrena THAYER on the 3rd of July 1828, and Willis died 11 Feb 1882 at Woonsocket, RI.Willis (age 76) & Cyrena (age 71) COOK were living in Woonsocket, RI during the 1880 census with two daughters, Eliphalet S. COOK age 52, and Angenette COOK age 46.
Also recorded in the COOK household was a Granddaughter Florence BULLOCK age 4 born in RI, a Nurse and two servants.I also find record of Gertrude COOK b. at Woonsocket, RI to parents Willis & Syrena COOK.Gertrude married Richmond A. BULLOCK on the 10th of October 1871 at Woonsocket, RI.Willis COOK listed his parents birthplaces as RI and MA respectively, with Cyrena listing her place of birth as MA along with both of her parents. The COOK daughters were both born in RI.
I also believe that the photograph of Gilbert DARLING is that of Gilbert DARLING b. about 1824 and married to Abigail ALDRICH.The couple was living in Woonsocket, RI during the 1880 census along with four children, Margaret age 31, Charles H. age 29, Harriet B. age 27, and Anna F. age 23.
A daughter-in-law, Emma J. DARLING was also living with the family at that time and was one servant.Gilbert was listed as age 62, born in MA as were both of his parents.Abbie was age 54 born in RI, with both of her parents born in MA.All of the DARLING children were listed as born in RI with Emma J. DARLING born in MA.
The photograph of Abbie D. (P) THOMPSON (who I believe may have been a PENNIMAN by birth) may very well be Abbie D. THOMPSON wife of Edward W. THOMPSON that were both living in Braintree, MA with Edward's Mother, Emily J. COLE and his stepfather Horatio W. COLE during the 1880 census.Another stepson, Frank THOMPSON was also living with the family as was a daughter Emma S. COLE.
I believe that the SANBORN photograph is that of John C. SANBORN who in the 1880 census of Boston, MA was living with his wife Sarah D. SANBORN and his son Fletcher SANBORN age 11 and a servant.John C. was age 37, born in NH to parents born in MA and listed his occupation as Baggage for the OCRR.
With regard to the PENNIMAN Family I find Thomas & Almira J. PENNIMAN living in Braintree, MA with a daughter Annie M. PENNIMAN, Thomas' Mother, Dorcas E. PENNIMAN, and Thomas' Sister, Ann M. PENNIMAN during the 1880 census.Thomas is listed as 50 years of age, born in MA to parents both born in MA, while Almira is listed as age 44 also born in MA.
Dorcas E. PENNIMAN is listed as age 80, again MA born to MA born parents with the Sister Ann M. PENNIMAN as 44 as Schoolteacher born in MA also. Also in Braintree, MA is the family of William PENNIMAN age 60, born in MA along with his wife Louisa M. PENNIMAN age 57 born in RI.They have two sons living with them, Walter A. age 19 and Lyman age 11 both born in MA.
I had hoped to locate someone from this family so that the album could be returned to the care of family, however, I was not successful so I have passed the album along to the Boston to Providence Genealogical Society in hopes that they might have better luck in reuniting this treasure with family.
If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact them.
Thanks,
Shelley
