The following information is from Gov. Pennypacker's unpublished genealogy manuscript. If you'd like to see where Capt. Enos J. Pennypacker fits into the Pennypacker family, I've extracted all the names and information from the manuscript and posted it at RootsWeb's WorldConnect site. My database ID is
123103sj

If you have a scanner, I'd love a copy of that photo. My email address is:

Pennypacker, Samuel W., Genealogy of the Pennypacker family: including those bearing the names of Pennypacker, Pennybacker, Pennebecker..., unpublished manuscript, p. 310, Pennypacker Mills, Rt. 73 & Haldeman Rd., Schwenksville, PA 19473.

"Captain of Co., M, 163 P.V. 18 Cav. mustered Dec. 8, 1862 for 3 yrs...captured at Buckley's Mill. In Libby prison 6 mos..at Macon, Ga. 4 mos..a prisoner 14 mos. One of 50 officers selected by the rebels to be placed under fire at Charleston, S.C. He was wounded at Gettysburg July 6, 1863...mustered out with Co., D, 3 Regt. Provisional Cavalry Oct. 31, 1865. Since the war he has been Inspector of Naval Stores at Wilmington, N.C. Collector of the Port.
[Margin note: He had a fine manner and presence. Was much respected in Wilmington, N.C.; said to have built the first Cotton Compress in the South, he was collector of the Port, I think appointed by President Arthur.]."
