Hi, I am currently researching the family of Jonathan Penry (b. 1785-1786 SC, d. 1863 in Noxubee County, MS, m. Cynthia Boydston--daughter of Samuel Boydston, abt. 1810). My husband is descended from their son, Silas Brown Penry (b. 1827 in SC or Alabama, m. Nancy Land 1852 in Noxubee Cty, MS). Silas' son, Louis Curl Penry--a prominent lawyer in Texas (b. 1864, m. Ena Montgomery 1885, d. 1935 in Los Angeles, CA) is my husband's gggrandfather.

Nothing is known about the origins of Jonathan Penry--I do possess handwritten notes by Louis Curl Penry in which he states that "three brothers--Penrys--came to this country (US) from Wales..My father, Silas Brown Penry, was the grandson of one of the brothers. After the Rev. War, one brother settled in New York, one in Ohio, and the third (Jonathan Penry) in Alabama (this is where the younger siblings of Silas Brown Penry were born.) His grandmother was a Brown." Please understand this is speculation, the history hasn't been proved and this is why I write to the forum. I have proved other things written in the notes and was wondering if anyone could help me with the history of Jonathan Penry.

I do have a lot of information on the descendants of Silas Brown Penry via his son Louis Curl Penry and am willing to share anything....

Thank you so much for your time!
Alison Bigbee
