James Monroe Penry, Red Oak Iowa, was my gr-gr-grandfather. He came to Iowa from Indiana when he was 18 years old with an ox team. He was a true pioneer of Iowa. He was married twice. First to Lydia Binnegar in 1855 in Pilot Grove Iowa. Second, to my gr-gr-grandmother, Priscilla Roberts, when she was just 17 or so in 1882. Between both wives he had 21 children (Hence the need for the family reunion. James Monroe Penry had two brothers who also lived in Red Oak. William McKinley Penry, veteran of the civil war died at age 83. And Thomas C Penry died at age 84. I have copies of the obits of all three, as well as several other Penry's. Let me know what you are interested in. Sirena
