I found the following obituary in the Augusta Georgia newspaper. The Centennial DAR Patriot Index gives this information: PENTACOST : PENTECOST William : B. 11-4-1763 VA. d. 1-27-1839 GA. m ( 1 ) Delilah Wood ( 2 ) Mrs. Julianne Brown ( 3 ) Mary Brady Pvt. VA. PNSR /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Tri-Weekly Chronicle & Sentinel Augusta, Georgia Thursday March 7, 1839 DIED On Sunday, the 27th January last, after a short illness ( supposed to be influenza ) at his residence in Jackson county, Georgia, in the 70th year of his age, Col. William Penticost. The deceased served his country as a soldier and officer during the revolutionary struggle; he was cut down while thus aiding in the effort to secure the principles of liberty and republicanism, at Buford's defeat where he lost his left arm, and received eleven severe wounds.
