DIED

On Sunday, the 27th January last, after a short illness ( supposed to be influenza ) at his residence in Jackson county, Georgia, in the 70th year of his age, Col. William Penticost. The deceased served his country as a soldier and officer during the revolutionary struggle; he was cut down while thus aiding in the effort to secure the principles of liberty and republicanism,
at Buford's defeat where he lost his left arm, and received eleven severe wounds. He was in several engagements, and made several very narrow escapes.

I found this while searching the newspaper's microfilm. I don't have any other information. Hope its helpful.
