I don't think I realized our Miss. Scarborough was an overseer and did not own land of his own.

I am checking on Edmund Williams as possible step-father to our Scarborough and 2nd husband to Catherine Pentecost, sofar nothing.

I also want to know the relationship of Francis to John Claiborne in Dinwiddie Co. On tax records, Francis is listed but John Claiborne is charged with the tax. Is this another overseer situation?

See tax records for Thomas and John Verell charged with tax in Dinwiddie; Scarborough (probably Jr.), and John Mason charged with tax in Brunswick and William and Edmond Ruffin charged with tax in Charlotte. Were these boys all overseers at some point for others? I know at least Thomas and William went on to own their own land. Scarborough? I don't know. Francis, probably not, since he died so young.

Please note the change in my e-mail.
