Welcome to the Message board, Father. I have been researching my gmother Pentony's family for a couple of years and have taken to making notes on all I find. I show an Irene Peyntony (sic)/ age 11/ stepdau of James Clohessy on the 1900 NY census SDX. I don't know if this is your Irene, but if you think it might be, you may want to look at the original record, as well as looking for the 1920 census (not too clear from your message who would have been alive then/ what names to look for- If you can't look, I wouldn't mind checking next time I go, but I'd need more info.) Happy hunting, Jill Dowd in sunny Sarasota, FL
