Edward dies before the 1870 census so Sarah and family appear without him in Winnebago County, Illinois. By 1880, Sarah has married William Bills and appears with him [and several Peppers children] in the Wayne County, Michigan census. Sarah dies 10 Sep 1887 in Michigan. I have seen a death date for Edward as 8 Aug 1868, but have no evidence supporting this. I hypothesize that this Edward was previously married to Esther Dungan and had one child, William/Leander Peppers which appears in the 1850 and 1860 censuses with the family.
