Statham is the correct spelling, but it is pronounced "Statum" with a long "a"; it is in Barrow County GA, but was probably in Jackson or Walton County until Barrow County was formed in 1914. There were (are) several Peppers families in the Auburn area of Barrow County, which was in Gwinnett County until 1914. There were also Peppers families in Walton and Morgan Counties. This is not my line, so I don't have any more information for you.
