Andrew Perciville 1839 In Texas
Posted by: Ken Thames Date: October 29, 1998 at 18:57:02

In 1839 two Percivals, Andrew and Elisha, came into Texas via Red River Co. Both were single, and it is not known what their relationship is.
Andrew Percival settled in Fayette Co. c. 1840. Fayette Co. marriage license on 12/08/1840. Sometime between 1840 & 04/15/1842 he married a Mrs. Elizabeth Scidmore - reg. does not give act. date. Only 1 child is known (assumed) my Ggrandfather Andrew J. Perciville.
Elisha Percival is found in a book called "First Settlers of Red River Co" giving his arrival date as Dec 5, 1839.
Also in this book is a Joseph Percival who had arrived on 1 Aug 1835. I do not know who this Joseph is in relation to the family.
Elisha appears to have aquired land in Red River, Lamar and Fannin Counties - though he may have been only in one place - Lamar and Fannin came from Red River Co.
In the Lamar Co. 1850 census Elishua Purshaville (sic) gives his age as 70 (born c. 1780) and birth place as Mass.
I cannot locate Andrew Perciville in any census. There is a Andrew J. Percifull (sic) in the 1900 Erath Co., Tx census DOB: June 1847 in Missouri - I cannot identify him or any of the family mbrs listed.
An Elisha Percival is listed in the 1800, 1810, 1820 & 1830 Mass. censuses living in Lenox, Berkshire Co.
I have found appx. 17 different spellings of Percival, when our family started using Perciville is unknown to me.
Anyone who can help me:
1. Identify the relationship between Andrew, Elisha & Joseph:
2. Most importantly identify Andrew's parents:
3. Connect with anyone working this particular family tree -
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Ken Thames
