It seems as though there must be some connection, but I can't find it.

My Roswell Knowlton Willson was born at Belchertown, Hampshire, MA in 1781. He married Persis Tyler and had children Daniel, Fowler, Mary, Asa, Asenath, Sarah, Wright, and Roswell. He removed to Lee, Oneida, NY ca. 1805.

He had a relative in Belchertown (Capt. Daniel Willson) who had a son, Lucius, in 1811, but that son died at age 23 and none of his brothers survived and had issue.

Ken Stevens has published a book on the descendants of Jacob Wilson of Braintree, MA, b. ca. 1618, England. This is my Willson family.

I don't find any other Lucius in Stevens' book, but the proximity in Oneida County, the spelling with two L's and the other connection to the Knowltons seems quite a coincidence if there's no relationship.

As I said before, let me know if the ancestry of Lucy Knowlton is of interest to you and you'd like to compare notes.
