Because in 1723 the surviving heirs of Andrew Percival sold the last of their lands in South Carolina, being Essex Percival, Widow; Andrew Percival, Son; and Mary Percival, daughter, Spinster. She was still unmarried in 1723. They were all residents of London. The records I found on the Percival lands (originally Shaftesbury) stated that none of that Percival family ever moved to Carolina. But the first Andrew's will mentioned the cousin Samuel, and I thought he might be a possibility. There were several Fords in SC early. The one I work on was Stephen, grants of land in the Low Country in 1699, wife Jane, three sons: George, married Susannah, widow of Bartholomew Oliver; Stephen (called Junior), married Mary ? - he died 1756 in Prince George's Parish, Craven County; Thomas, married Patience Vinson, large family in St. Bartholmew's Parish; and one daughter, Jean, married Richard Godfrey (one of a number of wives of Richard Godfrey). Some descendants of Stephen (Junior) had the name "Mary Percival" which makes one suspect that Stephen's wife was Mary Percival. But records don't sustain this, so far. They would have been married in the 1720's. Again, many thanks.
