Pankey Perino family connection

I am Phillip Thomas and have a family line of Pankey. I have a Peter Perino Pankey who served in the Confederate Army unit; Co. H 18th Virginia Infantry. He was born Feb 10, 1838 and died March 13, 1915. I just found him in doing my research and became interested in his middle name Perino. I can only assume that he has a blood connection to that name thru marriage.
My Pankey line arrived in 1700 on the east coast of Va. Traveled up the James River and settled west of Richmond in what was known as Manakin Town.
I would apppreciate any information that may shed light on this family name in my Pankey line.
