Its great to get your response. How are you related to Armilda Perkins or Mary Jane Perkins?I've only recently started reviewing our old family documents and starting my family tree.
I'm extremely interested in the pictures/index of Wells Cemetery (can you email them?) on the land that belonged to my GGrandfather Charles William Wells. His father was Warren F. Wells, son of William H. Wells and Armilda Perkins, and grandson of Charles Franklin Wells, patriarch of the Wells family in Daviess County, Indiana, who started the cemetery on his 723 acre farm southeast of Plainville.
Most of the Perkins family in Daviess County trace to Elisha and Mary Perkins who moved there from Bourbon County, Kentucky with some of their children and grandchildren.Their 12 children included Reuben, Abraham, Elisha, Issac, John, Aberilla, Thompson, Alfred, and William.William Perkins was born in 1798 and married Jane Harsha in 1822.One of their children was Mary Jane Perkins, born in 1824 or 1825.Mary Jane married Andrew J. Wells, a brother of William H. Wells.Their children included Sarah F., Andrew J., and Ann Wells.
Armilda Perkins was born in 1814 or 1815 in Kentucky just before the move to Indiana, and is not her sister, but is probably a cousin, the daughter of Reuben, Abraham, Elisha, Issac, or John, but not of Thompson or Alfred.Does anyone know?Elisha and John are both buried in the Old Perkins Cemetery in Daviess County.Armilda died about 1850 giving birth to Sally.Sally and her five siblings, Laura, Lucinda, Warren F., George Dallas, and Charles F. were orphaned a couple of years later when William H. Wells also died.I believe one of Armilda's cousins, Isaac Perkins, brother of Mary Jane, then named a newborn child Armilda in 1850.
I'm putting together a chart of the Wells family in Daviess County and plan to also compile a chart of the Elisha and Mary Perkins family too.
