I think we may have ties also.
I have a Newton (#1) who was my greatgreatgreatgrandfather married to Pharabe Wallace. He had a son Newton (#2) who married Mary Drucilla Brinson, but he was born in 1825 and died in 1872. Both are buried in a Burke County cemetary that is known as the Wallace/Perkins family cemetary.
His brother, Malcom Cass Perkins, was my great greatgreatgrandfather, married Mary Jane Wallace and had a son named Newton Middleton Perkins. There is also an "Ernest L. Perkins" who was born in 1897 in the family.
I visited the cemetary years ago. I remember seeing a Newton Perkins, Jr. grave who was not Newton (#2). When I did a little more research, I found that brothers often named their children after their brother and called the child a "junior".I think he was the son of David Perkins who was Newton's (#1) brother.
Let me look and then I will come back.
Yes, according to my information: David had a son Newton, Jr., born February 2, 1804 and died February 9, 1870. In the book on the Perkins family that I have, it says, that he was named after his uncle (My ggggrfather). He first married Nancy born probably around 1807, then he married Sarah Reynolds in 1857.
Newton, Jr. is buried in the Perkins Wallace Cemetary.
Have you seen the book that I mentioned? It has a family history on some of the children of Newton, Jr and Nancy, icluding Stiring B. and Mary Belinda Wiggins Perkins.
