I'm interested in finding more information about these men. I'm mostly interested in the name of Edwin's mother.
Edwin's father, Hosea, was a wealthy entrepreneur in NYC and lived in a mansion in Washington Heights on Manhattan Island. After the Panic of 1893 wiped out Edwin's wealth, he went to his father's home and killed himself on the lawn. His story is included in the book below as one example of the many suicides that this depression brought about. Edwin died 12 September 1893.
Edwin's story is covered in the book:
"The President is a Sick Man : Wherein the Supposedly Virtuous Grover Cleveland Survives a Secret Surgery at Sea and Vilifies the Courageous Newspaperman Who Dared Expose the Truth"; Matthew Algeo; Chicago Review Press; 2011. Pages 177-179.
