Thomas perks. Thomas Perks was my great grandfather. He was married to a Barnard lady and they lived in Knysna in South Africa in the Forest. I have no idea when Thomas Perks came to South Africa to make a living here. He met his wife here. They were bush cutters and lived a primitive life. One of their daughters Hester Helena Perks is my grandmother. I rhink she died round about 1969. She was married to Willem Hendrik Boshoff in Knysna. They had four children and later moved to Phillipolis and then Middelburg. One of their children was Petrus JOhannes Boshoff, my father. In Knysna South Africa there is still a small museum containg history and relics of their lives. Thomas perks and his wife is berried in Knysna and their grave is still in tact. One of his decendants with the surname Perks still lives in Knysa .
A lot is written about this family in the book "Mulberry Bush" by Dalene Matthee.
