Perrault in my case comes from Nicolas Perrot which came to Canada in the mid 1600s from France. The name evolved from Perrot to Perreault to the current standardization of Perrault. All spellings are pronounced the same in French.
Pear o

In most cases it is a French name.

Hope this helps.
