HARLOW WILLIAM PERROW was born Nov. 21, 1837, in Lovingston, Nelson County, Va.; died April 7, 1904, at Noeton, Grainger County, Tenn., aged 66 years. He was educated in Baltimore, Md., intending to make law his profession, but when the war sounded , he joined the Nelson Rangers, Company B, 8th Va. Cavalry. He served under Gen. John B. Floyd, afterwards in Tenn. under Gen. William Jones...again transferred to Va. and served under Gen. Bradley T. Johnson; was taken prisoner at Lynchburg, but made his escape and rejoined his command; He served the full 4 years of the great war.
Comrade PERROW was of Revolutionary descent. On the maternal side the family date their ancestry back to the Norman Conquest, 1066. On the paternal side they were Huguenots, who, with others, settled on the James River near Richmond, Va. , on a land given by William, Prince of Orange. A great-grandfather belonged to the Dragoons, under Gen. William Washington, and a grandfather served in the war of 1812 and 2 brothers in the Confederate army.
In 1869 Comrade PERROW was married to MRS. WILLIE A. JOHNSON [ nee Graham] of Lynchburg, Va. He removed to Tenn. 20 years ago.
His remains were interred in New Gray Cem., Knoxville, Tenn. He left a wife and several children to mourn their loss.
