Check out the Metis History Index at www.agt.net/public/dgarneau/metis-d.htm

There is a search engine to search just within the site, and if you do a search for Perrault, you will find several entries on a Jean-Baptiste Perrault, along with a smattering of other stray Perrault's. This site is really hard to find stuff in, but there's a wealth of historical information in it -- not just tracking names and ancestors but events in their lives. Its an especially good source of information on white/native marriages, as the marriages were recorded in a log.

I am trying to figure out if I am also a descendant of ole' Jean-Baptiste.

It is a tedious site to pick through but there are some Perrault gem's scattered throughout the entire site, including the related French-Canadian site.

Have fun and let me know how you make out.
