Perrigo Ancestors- Perrigo-Hershey-Stains-Stauffer

I am hoping that someone can help me out. I am tracing my various maternal sides genealogy. My Grandmother was Emma Stains b.) 1/10/1890 in Huntington, Fulton or Franklin Co, Pa. I have inherited all the family related material. Among her papers and from what I can remember of her oral history/stories she used to tell is this.

Her mother was Mary Hershey who married Oliver G. Stains.
Mary Hershey's mother was a Perrigo and native American. To be accurate my grandmother only wrote the word--Indian next to (no longer readable) Perrigo.

My Grandmother Stauffer didn't provide dates just the names. In addition I remeber her talking about an Aunt Fannie, Hershey and Perrigo relatives that she visited near Maddensville, Three Spring, Orbisonia, Burnt Cabins. From what I can remember the families were close and all had arrived Pre-Revolution.

1.) What is the origen/nationality of Perrigo?
2.) Does her Native American story have any basis in fact?
3.) Do I perhaps have Perrigo relatives from this line to which I am related?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to all,
Marc Stauffer
