Obelia Perry's First husband likely Robert Degge Fort
It is almost certain that Obelia PERRY, daughter of Edward N and Rebecca Perry, married Robert Degge Fort, son of Joseph John Fort & Sarah Degges Hart.
I have an old family tree passed down from William Fort Moore. It shows:
Robert Degge Fortm Obelia _____
Thomas Fortm Lou Ellen Langley
Edward Fortm _____
Lilla Fortm _____ Lynch
Obelia Lynch m _____ Thompson
Lilla Lynchm _____ Dawson
There is an Obelia Perry McBryde in the Fort Family Cemetery in Cotton Valley, Macon Conty, Ala. The tombstone reads:
McBryde, Obelia A. Perry, 2/21/1837 - 2/28/1886 (daughter of E.N. & R. Perry - wife of J.A. McBryde, born in Marion Co., GA) The tombstone for her husband reads:
McBryde, John A., 9/23/1842 - 7/03/1915 (Shriner) - Co C 3rd Ala Regt, Quartermaster of His Brigade
The 1880 Cotton Valley, Macon County, Alabama Census shows a John A McBride (note different spelling)NameRelation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace

As you can see, a Thomas W. Fort is listed as stepson. (Obelia died in 1886 based on her tombstone, and John A. McBryde, 57, is shown in the 1900 census as being married to a Mary C., 34.) Therefore Obelia A. Perry McBryde was previously married to a Fort.
The 1900 Cotton Valley, Macon County, Alabama Census shows a "T. W. Fort" age 39 (b. Nov 1860) married to a "Lou Ellen" age 24 (b. Mar 1876) , with daughters Ethel, 4 (b. Oct. 1884) and Ruth, 1 (b. Jun 1898), and mother-in-law Emma Langley, 48, and sisters-in-law, Annie May, 15, and Lucy, 11. The 1910 Census shows "Tom W. Fort" married to "Lou E." with the same daughters. This is therefore the Thomas Fort who married LouEllen Langley in the old family tree.
Therefore, based on --
1. The family tree connected Robert Degge(s) Fort with a wife named Obelia and a son named Thomas, who marries a LouEllen Langley.
2. Obelia Perry McBryde is shown with a son named Thomas W. after she remarries John McBryde.
3. A Thomas W. Fort with the same birth year is in the 1900 and 1910 census as married to a Louellen Langley.
I conclude that Obelia A. Perry McBryde's first husband was Robert Degge Fort, son of Joseph John Fort. I also have an old document that says Robert Degge Fort died in the Civil War and a Robert D. Fort was in the 61st Ala. Inf.
I have not been able to find any Edward or Lilla
Tom Fort
