Chapter XIV The decendents of James W. And Sarah (Six) Perry
James Whitehead Perry Jr. was born August 18,1879 in Burleson county Texas and was only 4 years old when his father died and ten when his mother died. He was raised by his brothers and sisters who were much older than he and as he was the baby brother we can assume that he might have been spoiled. Although Edward was not much older he was more able to care for himself. James W. Jr. or Jim as he was called, lived with his brothers & sisters until they moved away from Burleson county, then he chose to stay with his brother Ed who remained in the county. Jim's life seems to have been one of leasure while young. It was said that he didn't care for work. When he grew to be a young man he liked to make all the dances and he also was known to do a little gambling to earn a few dollars. He must have been pretty good at it as he seemed to always have money. He also liked to go off down to the Yegua creek and catfish. Ed was a hard working young farmer trying to make a living for his family and did not go too much for Jim's easy going ways. It was natural then that they argue about this. Anyway after many arguments over this there came the day when they had one more heated than the ones before. I am sure, as is usually the case there were words spoken that were later regreted but the end result was that Jim decided to leave. Aunt Addie remembers the day well. She says she was out in the yard playing with the rest of the children when Jim came out of the house. He had his clothing and stopped to tell the children a last goodbye. He was a favorite with the children as he was always around to play wlth them and to tell them stories. He reached in his pocket and gave each a silver dollar and walked off. That Is the last time he was In Burleson county. He went up to the northern part of the state and some say worked for a railroad for a while and also worked in the wheat fields of Kansas. He also worked in Arkansas. It was here that after about six years of traveling he met the right girl and decided to marry and settle down.

She was Sarah Six, born on August 5,1884, the daughter of Phillip John David Six who died on Jane 27,1910 and Susanna Se Fronia King Six. They were married in Belfast, Arkansas on December 6,1912 and lived in the Willow, Arkansas area most of their lives.

James W. Jr. died on January 13.1941 and Sarah Six Perry died November 16,1963.

After Jim married he wrote his brother Ed many times as well as other members of the family, but they never saw each other again. I don't know If Jim changed much from his early years but It would seem he did. He worked and made a living for his family and was respected in the area. There are a few stories concerning him which the reader must Judge for himself. It is said that he was called Shotgun Perry in the part of the county in which he lived. He always carried a shotgun with him and therefore the name. If he carried it for protection or as was claimed, we can only guess. It was said he liked squirrels and only carried it just in case he saw some on his way from town. Then again maybe there was something in his past and he didn't want to be caught unprepared. The early days of all these boys were during the time when It was not unusual to have gun play. The children of Jim and Sarah Perry were:
1.James Clarence Perry, born October 11,1913.
Married Silvia Rt. 1, Leola, Ark.
Children:
a.Sandra Kayo Perry, b. March 1,1947.
b.James Leslie Perry, b. January 13,1951.
2.Johnny Lewis Perry, born October 6,1915 and
died In 1961 of cancer.
3. Ruby Perry, born January 10,1917. Married Isaac Carlton and lives at 6205 Baseline in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Sarah and her husband are buried at Hunters Chapel Cem., Dallas, Arkansas, USA
