In the 1930's and 1940's that I know of (I can't speak for other years) there was a well-to-do Pershall family living in Granite City IL. They owned a chain of grocery stores called the Tri-City Stores. My memory of them isn't sharp but I believe the father of the family was called Walter and his wife Mary and there was a grown son, I think also Walter, maybe another grown son whose name I don't know, and a younger daughter named Mary that I played with. I vaguely remember the name Sam Pershall. That's all I remember except that they had a beautiful house on 27th St between Delmar and Edison, across from Wilson Park. Also, Mary's mother was a very kind lady.
