Alonzo Persons was born in Sheldon, Wyoming Co., NY, Feb. 1st, 1811. He came to Bennington, Wyoming Co., NY in 1847, and has since been a well known farmer in the vicinity of Bennington Centre. He was appointed postmaster by President Grant, and is yet in office. His father, Uriah Persons, was born in New Jersey in 1763. In 1806 he took up a section of land in Sheldon, N.Y. He was one of the first settlers, and built the first frame house and kept the first tavern in that town. He held several minor town offices. He married MARY SESION, of Connecticut, by whom he had three children. He had been previously married, and by that marriage had nine children. He died March 20th, 1842, Mrs. Persons in 1856.

I am not researching this family. I have no further information to provide.
