Can anyone help me with this family? I'm especially interested in what happened to daughter Claire George Persons, born about Oct 1883. Who did she marry - probably in New Jersey between April 1900 and Nov 1907?

Charles Floyd Persons was born in Rushford, Allegheny Co., New York in August 1854, son of Daniel D. Persons and Melissa Spoor. The wedding was witnessed by Bella Balmer of Oakville, and Edward E. Abrams of Bradford, Penn. Charles Floyd Persons died in Stamford, Conn., 18 Nov 1907, just three weeks after his wife.

He married in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 22 May 1878 AGNES C. GEORGE (Clara Jane2 Rogers, Joseph1 Rogers), born in Toronto in Oct 1854. She died in New York City, New York, 29 Oct 1907, aged 52. They are buried in Lot 102, Section FF, Mount Hebron Cemetery, Upper Montclair, New Jersey.

Charles Persons was "editor and proprietor of Bradford Era," when he married. The family settled in Olean, Cattaraugus Co., N.Y. where Charles Persons was with The Olean Herald [newspaper] until 1888 when he went to New York City with the American Press Association.

He "advanced through various offices until his death, when he was vice president and general manager of the American Press Association." In June 1900, Charles Persons, 45, Secretary, American Press Association, lived on Loraine Ave., Montclair, New Jersey, with his wife Agnes, 45, and daughters Clare Georgie, 16, and Marjorie M., 11.

Children (PERSONS) of Charles Floyd Persons and Agnes C. George:

"Margery M. Persons" and her uncle, Hugh George boarded in Newton, Mass. in April 1910. She applied for a passport in Philadelphia, 11 July 1918. Supporting papers report she was a secretary with the Y.W.C.A., traveling to France for work. Twenty-nine years of age, 5'4" with hazel eyes and medium brown hair, a small nose, a large mouth, and a ruddy complexion, she traveled from Brest, France to New York City aboard the S.S. Harrisburg, arriving 28 Aug 1919. Her home address was then reported as Greenwich St., Hempstead, Long Island. She was of 327 South 12th St., Philadelphia in June 1926 and 2119 Spruce Rd., Philadelphia in Sept 1930.
