In case you are still looking for information on this family, I will give you a little of what is in my most recent issue of "Carolina Trees & Branches:"

"Anthony burton Persse, a native of County Galway, Ireland, left that country in 1840 according to his obituary. The first evidence of his being in the United States is the record of his marriage in 1852 to Margaret Louise Dean in Edenton in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. They had one son, William, born 22 January 1854. He was baptized a Catholic shortly after is birth.....Margaret died in 1855 and was buried in the cemetery of the church where they were married."

"A boot maker by trade, Persse and his young son moved to Elizabeth City. He met and married Casandria Scott Burcher, whose husband John had died in 1854. Their marriage bonds were dated 7 May 1857. Casandria brought two Burcher children to this household: Elizabeth born in 1850 and John, Jr. born in approximately 1852. A son, James, had died in 1855."

"Anthony and Casandria had four children of their own: Maria L., February 1858, Henry R., 1860, Jefferson D., 3 September 1861 and Sophia M. born ca. 1867."

There is further information in this article on them and also information on other pages on the Burchers.
