Thank you for replying to my query. Unfortunately, your info stops in the 1700's so it's difficult to establish whether there is a link or not. So far, have traced from the present, back to mid-late 1800's in France for sure. The question is from that point backwards. My guess, given the sources available here in Montreal, was that Charles Perthuis was the earliest known progenitor. However, the gap between those known about in Fr. and those established in Quebec in the 16-1700's is still unclear. Hence my request for info. Thanks again for your input. If nothing else, it will help to verify what is not a link, or correct what is only a guess at the moment. Take care
