Beth, I have no information re Joseph Peterkin being married twice (?bigamist).I know that my grandfather emigrated in 1911 as his father had died 2 years previously. From my grandfathers 1894 baptismal record (born in 1893) I know that his father was Joseph E Peterkin, Planter, Belvidere Estates. My grandfather was the youngest of 6. I have found the birth records of 2 other sons born to Joseph and Martha (1879 and 1890).I have more records on order and will search for all the Peterkins on the Island. My mother was only 15 when her father died and never heard of 2 marriages or half siblings. Her Uncle Frank (another son of JEP) was very close to her throughout her younger adult years so surely would have said something? But who knows? My mothers's impression was that her grandfather (JEP) took over as overseer at Belvidere from his father (?William Cooper Ashby Peterkin born in Barbadoes and died in Grenada) Perhaps they moved to Grenada when JEP was a child. What connection did you find to Belvidere Estates?I have an old photo of JEP's home and old photos of both he and Martha.Do you have any photos for comparison? This is a very interesting puzzle, is it not?
Patty
