Michael,

My father, Davide Petronio's family is from Sambiase, Italy. He has two brothers, Aldo & Francesco. Their father was called Peppino, and he had 5 siblings : Davide, Elena, Francesco, Alfredo and Antonio. Their father was named Edwardo (or Eduardo) and his siblings were Giuseppe (or Peppino), Luigi, & Maria. And finally, their father was called Francesco, and mother was Caterina Barone. It was either this Francesco or one of his sons that had moved to the Pittsburgh area around the turn of the 20th century. The name Francesco seems to pop up every generation in my family, so it's pretty common. I don't know much of what became of the PA side of my family, except what I can learn from an aunt, Domenica (Mantello) Flora, from my mother's (Maria Mantello Vittoria) side who live in Coraopolis, PA. They know something of the PA Petronio's, and in fact, one of them is a world-famous pediatric neuro-surgeon, Dr. Joseph A. Petronio. If you want to see a jpeg picture, I can send it to you. He looks eerily like my brother Aldo. We're probably related ! I can ask them what became of Francesco.
