Greetings from England. Raised in Addiscombe (between Croydon - then is Surrey, and Beckenham - then in Kent and not very far from Pett's Wood) I now live in Cumbria in the North of England. I too am researching my ancestors and - according (only) to family tradition - may be decended from the famous ship-builders. If I can be of any help in accessing UK sources of information - or pass on any details I have - please let me know.

My only know connection with the US is through a cousing "Peggy" who married a US airman in the 1950s and went to live in America. All I can remember at all clearly are the wonderful gifts (chocolate, chrisps and cigs for my dad) that he brought from his base. Such things were still hard to come by here at the time!
