Emy, I do not know if this is your Jane, but I have the following info, courtesy of another Petticrew researcher. I have not verified any of it, so use this info only as a lead for your own further research. The dates, in particular, seem more calculated than documented. CATHERINE PETTICREW was born Abt. January 1756 in Ireland, and died Abt. 1796 in West Bethlehem Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. She married SAMSON NICHOLL Abt. June 1780 in Hanover Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. He was born Abt. April 1752 in Ireland, and died in West Bethlehem Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Children of CATHERINE PETTICREW and SAMSON NICHOLL are: i. JENNET NICHOLL, b. Abt. April 1781. ii. ELIZABETH JANE NICHOLL, b. Abt. May 1784. iii. MARY NICHOLL, b. Abt. March 1785. iv. THOMAS NICHOLL, b. Abt. April 1787. v. SAMPSON NICHOLL, b. Abt. June 1789. vi. DAVID NICHOLL, b. Abt. June 1791. The parents of this Catherine were David Petticrew and Elizabeth (nee Finley). David died in Dauphin Co. in 1784; Dauphin was once part of Lancaster Co. His wife, her four daughters, and their husbands moved to Washington Co. PA. Mother Elizabeth died there probably 1804, as there is a May, 1804 will by her. This is not my direct line. I am descended from David's brother James. You said Samson Nicholl was from Co. Tyrone. How did you ascertain that? Finding anything about Ireland origins of the Petticrews has proven impossible so far. Bev Notify Administrator about this message?
