The earliest definite Petticrew I have is James born in or around Glenarm in 1855, he married a Margaret McAuley also form Glenarm. The family then moved to Holywood Co Down where their children were born including my great grandfather Andrew. There are a lot of Petticrews there. I am sure many of the family probably went to US but haven't got back too fat yet as there are so many James and Andrew Petticrews it is hard to sort out.
here is a link to the 1851 census of Glenarm , as you can see there are quite a few Petticrew/grews. ALso have a look at the shipping records available through ancestry .com
