Your Jacob Pettigrew line is not mine, but I have done much research on many Pettigrew and Petticrew lines, so may be able to give you some leads on Jacob.

I first spot Jacob in the 1830 census for Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland Co. I got this from, which indexed the entry as Pttigrw. Below, in my shorthand code, male age groups follow the "m", female follow the "f". I further figured the birth years for some of the age groups: 1m 1825-30 means 1 male born in those years.

1830: Jacob Pttigrw        Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
Jacob Pettigrw, m100001(30-40), f020001(30-40) (s/o Robert?)
1m 1825-30, 1m 1790-1800

Jacob's mother-in-law Elizabeth was bequeathed Hempfield Twp land by her father Jacob Goodman. So that may be why Jacob and his family are in Hempfield Township. See the will abstract for Jacob Goodman next:
1, p. 212
Jacob Goodman of North Huntington Township
Dated May 7, 1805, proved April 7, 1806;
Children: Fannie wife of Adam Stack, Elizabeth wife of Christian Henry (to have land in Hempfield Township adjoining William Stewmaker), Jacob, Ann wife of Jacob Kiplie, John (to have land adjoining James McGrew, David Loutzengyser and James McClarg), Mary wife of Abraham Youder;
Son John Goodman and John Smutz, Esquire, executors;
Witnesses, Mary Milligan and James Stevenson.

Hempfield Twp. is just east of North Huntingdon Twp., and the will abstract states that Jacob Goodman was of North Huntington (Huntingdon) Township. Therefore, consider that Jacob Pettigrew might be related to Pettigrews of North Huntingdon Township. I speculate that his father was Robert Pettigrew of that township, and give you below a series of census entries for Robert. In the 1850 census it shows that Robert's wife was Hannah.

I suggest you look for a will for Robert of Westmoreland County, to see if it lists your Jacob Pettigrew as his son. Robert was 67 in 1850 and b. in PA. He was not in the 1860 census.

1800 North Huntingdon Twp, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
Jacob Goodman         Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
John Goodman        Westmoreland, Pennsylvania

1800 Franklin Twp., Westmoreland Co. PA
Robt. Pettygrew/Pittygrew, 1m<10,1m 16-26;1f<10, 1f 16-26

Note: Franklin Twp. is now the municipality of Murrysville, in NW Westmoreland Co., north of North Huntingdon Twp.

1810: Robert Pedegven        North Huntingdon, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
Robert Pedegrew m21010; f20010
2m 1800-10, 1m 1794-1800, 1m 1765-84, 2f 1800-10, 1f 1765-84

1820 North Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co.
Robert Pettegrew m12021; f1211
1m 1810-20, 2m 1804-10, 2m 1794-1804, 1m 1775-1794

1830 North Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co.
John Pettigrew m0001(15-20); f00101(20-30) (s/o Robert?)
Robert Pettigrew m11210001; f01001001
1m 1825-30, 1m 1820-25, 2m 1815-20, 1m 1810-1815, 1m 1770-80

In 1820, two males of Jacob's age were in Robert's household, but by 1830 those males were gone. One could have been Jacob who married by 1830 and was in his own household, as given in the next entry:

1830: Jacob Pttigrw        Hempfield Twp, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
Jacob Pettigrw 100001, f020001 (s/o Robert?)
1m 1825-30, 1m 1790-1800

1840: Jacob Pedigrew        Madison Twp, Armstrong, Pennsylvania

1840 North Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co.
Robert Pettigrew m000110001(60-70); f 1/60-70
Joshua Pettigrew m00001(20-30), 10001(20-30)

1850 Census: North Huntington Twp., Westmoreland Co.
Robert Pedigrew/Pediogrew 67(1780-83) b. PA; Hannah 67 b. VA, Simon Howell 52 b. VA, Olive Byerly 7 b. PA.
Josiah Pedigrew/Pediogrew 30, Sophia 33, Joseph 5, William 1. All b. PA.
Note: These next door to each other.

1860: Adamsburg, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania
Jesse Pettagrew        47 b. PA
Sophia Pettagrew        49
Joseph Pettagrew        13
William Pettagrew        9
Hannah Pettagrew        7
Rachel Pettagrew        5
Eliza Pettagrew        4
Note: all b. PA

If Jacob was Robert's son, it appears he had at least two brothers, John and Joshua/Josiah/Jesse, who also appear in censuses for North Huntingdon Twp.

The following mentions land of Robert Pettigrew:
1849 April 3 - WC Deed v31 p313 John Lenhart & Esther his wife of N. Huntingdon Twp. to Daniel Frick 106 acres & 57 perches for the sum of $3100. This being part of a tract of land issued to Conrad Beighly in 1755 and being the land Christian Lenhart bought from the estate of Conrad Beighly in 1835 and conveyed to John Lenhart in 1844. Tract borders land of Robert Pettigrew,George Painter,Samuel Zimmerman,Blakely,Dinsmore.

Pat, please post the cemetery record that gives the spelling of PettiCrew, and some explanation of the DNA results that link your Pettigrews to a Petticrew line. I am a Petticrew descendant.

Thank you.
