Hi Susan
I have been researching my Pettifer family from the Croydon Surrey area for a while now,and I have always kept one eye on the Childrey area as christian names seem to follow, although thats not too unusual to be named after Kings.Henry,Charles William,John, Alfred,George James & Robert all feature in my family. During my searches I have come across many times a John Pettifer that was married to an Elizabeth Wheeler which I feel is strange as you have a Amy Wheeler.I do not know if there are any connections between the two families yet.Regarding the 2 Johns being born close together it is not unusual as Child deaths were quite common then and if a name is to be carried on they would name the next boy with the same name.I had 3 Williams in one family. If I find any connection between the families I will contact you. Russel Pettifer (Derbyshire)
