A number of Pettigrove's are listed in Arnie Krause's posting of the Kirk-McColl Church records -- mainly the children of Francis (poss two Francises) and Thomas.

On July 2, 1815, Benjn. Pyttigrove of St. Stephen was baptised as an adult.

Children of Francis baptised at Kirk-Mccoll church were:
Sarah, b 12 May 1802 (bap 22 Sep 1803)
Abigail b 4 Jan 1804 (bap 12 June)
John b. 10 Dec 1804 (bap 1 Dec 1808)
John b. 31 Dec 1805 (bap 9 Sep 1806) (Francis of Calais, ME)
Elisabeth b 25 Oct 1807 (bap 12 Feb 1809)

Obviously the two John's cannot be of the same mother and father, so I assume Francis of Calais, Maine is a second man.

Children listed of Thomas Pettigrove are:
Thomas, b 20 Jan 1804 (bap 19 Nov 1808) (of Calias)
Neal b. 18 Mar 1805 (bap 19 Nov 1808) (of Calais)
Carolina Elisabeth b. 4 June 1806 (bap 19 Nov 1808)
Elisabeth b. 29 Sep 1808 (bap 25 Oct 1808)

The last may be of a different Thomas, guessing only on basis of baptism date.

An 1851 Charlotte County Census shows three Pettigrove Families:
Benjamin (32) and Eliza (29)
Joshua (36) and Pamelia (30)
Samuel (38) and Sarah (30)

In the household of Benjamin is Mary Pettigrove (68) "mother", born in the US.

Joshua and Pamelia are shown in the 1860 census of Calais Maine.

The St. Croix Courier of Nov 13, 1878 lists Benjamin Pettigrove as dying on the 2nd at Bay Side after a short illness.

Benjamin married Eliza Jane Trott, b circa 1823, d. Red Beach, Wash Co, ME 3 Nov 1897.(bur Sandy Point Cem, St.Croix)

Their children include:
Matilda b. circa 1842, St. Andrews, d. 28 May 1868;
Alamonde;
Allen, b. circa 1848, St. Andrews. d. 7 Apr 1874, Bayside, St. Andrews;
Horace, b circa Feb 1855, St. Andrews, d. 4 June 1878, Calais, ME;
Emma F.;
Laura B.;
Eliza M. b. circa 1860;
Joshua, b. circa 1861;
Jessie G.;
Emma, b. circa 1865.

The 1881 St. Croix Census lists Eliza Pettigrove (58); Eliza(20); Jessie (17) and emma (15)

Some records show Benjamin married a second time to Eliza Jane Eastman,b. 1822, but it seems likely that this must be due to another marriage of Eliza Jane Trott, or some corruption of records somewhere.

We think Eliza Jane's father was Benjamin Trott, either a son of the Penobscot Loyalists, John or Samuel -- or of Windham, ME.

Am particularly interested in any additional light on Eliza Jane.

Thanks, Jim

NB marriage records show Jessie Pettigrove as bride in 1885, Charlotte County; Laura B. Pettigrove as Bride in 1880, Charlotte County; and Robinson Pettigrove as Groom, 1888, Charlotte County.

Eliza M.married Vernon F. Turner.

The Sandy Point Cemetery stones are as follows:

Mary Pettigrove died Aug 10 1878 AE 95 yrs 2 m's
Matilda Pettigrove died May 28 1868
