Hi Bette! Sorry I didn't get back sooner than now, but my husband was in the hospital since last Friday with trouble with his heart, but he is ok.
Some of the things I have is : A document signed by John Hancock when he was a Governor (I think) of Mass. May 7, 1781 regarding Louis Benjamin Petitpas. Papers about our Mic Mac Indian marrying a Petitpas. I could put some of the things in the mail if you would be interested. I also have 6 different maps regarding The Pettipas of Port Royal. The story of The Petitpas surname: Of French origin from the descriptive name given to "One who took small steps or stepped lightly" The name Petitpas comes from France and some evidence that points to the medieval country known as French Flanders. I have not as yet looked into Flanders, but hope to once I finish this part of the tree. So if you would be interested in what I have, just let me know and I will be happy to send it to you. Would like to hear more about your ancester. Maybe with what I have, you might find some of the things you are looking for. I guess the families back then were so different. I have the 1846 PARISH CENSUS, and it states that non-catholics are excluded!!! Try to do that these days!!!!! Well, i had better be off. Hope to hear from you soon.
Marsha
