David Walker Pettus of Lunenburg married Anne Whitworth and then Mrs. Eleanor Wilson Dedman. Among their children were David Pettus Jr b. 1780 and Thomas Pettus (of Halifax) b. 1779. Thomas Pettus (Halifax) had a son named David Walker Pettus who was b. 1807 and who m. Elizabeth Jones. The 1780 David Pettus Jr. also had a son named David Walker Pettus (III), b. 12/17/1806 and m. Sarah Coats. They did not appear to have any David Walker Pettus IV. Mrs. Pocahontas Stacy disagrees with Mr. Colcock as to his conclusions of these David Walkers. The Halifax David Walker Pettus moved to Madison Co., AL where his uncle David Walker was and where his cousin, David Walker Pettus was. All of these David Walkers excepting the original one married Elizabeths - making it more confusing. There are those who disagree with Mrs. Stacy; however, until I see some verifiable evidence (besides personal conclusions), I will stick with Pocahontas.
