Larry,
Thanks for your response. I found your website last night with the Pettus family line. I am fairly certain that my Sarah Ann Virginia Pettus must be the daughter of D.W. Pettus who is listed on the White Co. AR 1870 Census. I know for a fact that Vincent Hart and Sarah Ann Virginia Pettus are Martha Emma Hart's parents and the 1870 White Co. Census info I have is a transcribed copy where the transcriber has listed his name as C.J. Hart. I don't know what the original Census record looks like, whether it was difficult to read or what, but I also know that Martha Emma Hart had a brother named Jefferson Hart. He moved to Oklahoma too and is buried next to her. She also named one of her sons Jefferson.

I am now fairly certain that my Sarah and the Sarah Ann Virginia Pettus listed as the daughter of David Walker Pettus III, born 12/17/1806, are the same. Do you agree?

Vincent J. Hart, born 17 Feb 1838 in VA, died 24 July 1880 is son of Anthony Hart Jr. and Frances Jeffries. Anthony Hart Jr. , born abt 1793 in King and Queen Co. VA, died 1868 Nutbush, Haywood Co. TN, is the son of Anthony Hart Sr. and wife Nancy. According to Virginia Colonial Abstracts, Anthony Hart Sr. owned 200 acres in King and Queen Co. VA in 1782.
Kaye
