I thought your e-mail was interesting because I have two great-uncles who were named Charles Pettus and Jack Pettus from the Rock Hill area. My grandmother (their sister) lived in New York but her name was Lela (she did have an adopted daughter named Joyce who lives in New York). Lela's first daughter was my mother Barbara Gordon from Clover. What was your grandmother's name? I believe my great uncle Charles married a woman named either Bobbie or Billie ?? My great grandfather, by the way, was Joseph Campbell Pettus from Five Points. He was of white and Cherokee descent. He married Carrie Cashion and they had 8 children: Charles and Jack were two of their sons.
Anyway, hope this helps....
