Elizabeth Pettus, wife of Dr. Hopkins
Posted by: Jean Cothran (ID *****2750) Date: June 26, 2002 at 10:50:58

I relied on a book, for a while. Fortunately for me,
it only lasted about a month.
Hopkins family book showed married of Elizabeth Pettus
to Dr. Arthur Hopkins, and then connected her to Capt.
Thomas Pettus. Since Dr. Arthur Hopkins was illustrious
in his own right, I don't think the Hopkins researchers
were trying to enhance his tree.
It is possible that her name was Elizabeth Pettus, even
this I do not know, but I would think, the possiblility
is there, and therefore Pettus researchers should be
looking into that possiblity. Also, Hopkins researchers
should be trying to identify Dr. Arthur Hopkin's wife
for sure, after all Grandmothers are an important part
of our trees.
My question is could Elizabeth Pettus be connected in
any way with the Stephen Pettus, Mr. W.W. Pettus dis-
custed on Nov. 29, 2001. She was supposed to be from
New Kent County. Since Dr. Hopkins married shortly
after his arrival, it appears she must have been there
in the area, as he had not had time to go searching
for a wife in the hinterlands.
