Thanks for your reply to my recent query. I do recall the previous correspondence. With regards to the Pettus-Minor marriage date, I will do some further searching on the Internet to see what I can find; however, in the case of the supposed marriage of Mary Pettus to John Clayton, I can advise you that MARY WATERS PETTUS, born in Louisa County, Virginia, about 1766 married CHARLES BLUNT [BLOUNT] (Louisa County, Virginia, marriage bond, 1 December 1787; John Waters Pettus, security). In his will, Thomas Waters Pettus mentioned his sister, Mary Waters Blunt [Thomas Waters Pettus will (1791), Louisa County Will Book 3: 443-445]. Mary Waters Pettus Blunt was the daughter of John Pettus of Louisa County, d. 1770.
