Looking for a Narcissa Pettus

My great, great, great grandfather was John Long, born SC, died in Holmes Co. MS. On the 1850 Census of Holmes Co, it shows him married to Narcissa, born in AL. They have two boys, John age 21(b. ab 1829, AL), and William age 19(b. ab 1831, AL), who have the last name Petty (I have been told that Pettus was the actual name and there may have been an error on the census taker's part.)

If I'm correct, John Long is the son of a James H. Long whose father, Daniel Long, died in Madison Co. AL. So I can see the MS-AL connection. I believe Narcissa was first married to a Pettus in AL. I have heard that she married around the age of 12.

Does anyone have any info on a AL Pettus who must have died between 1831 and 1834 and was married to a Narcissa and fathered at least two sons in AL (John and William)?? Please help. I believe there is a connection to the Madison Co, AL Pettus family.
