There was another Pettus who also fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. He was Edward Craddok Pettus, son of Freeman Pettus and cousin of John Freeman Pettus whose father was William A. Pettus,also in that final battle, and a brother of Freeman Pettus. Edward Craddock Pettus was the great grandfather of my husband, Edwin G. Dean, Jr. His grandparents were Thomas Buck Stanfield and Rebecca Brooks Pettus, daughter of Edward. The names of all three Pettuses who were in that battle are on the Battle of San Jacinto placque in the museum at Houston.....Monica Palmer Dean
