Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Most of the past month was spent in resolving detailed issues, such as unknown dates, incomplete citations, etc.,where I had flagged them during reviews. Many of the chapters are now in final form (I hope). I have begun creating an index, which will be a rather tedious process. Later this week, I will leave the U.S. to spend a week in Norwich, UK, and a week in The Netherlands and Belgium. During my stay in Norwich, I expect to visit family shrines and attend the opening of an exhibition on the founding of the Norwich Library by Sir John Pettus, Knt., in 1608. I also hope to visit the Rotterdam Archives, which has records of contracts between William Pettus of Norwich and his factors in Rotterdam during the 1630s. One of the contracts provides for the education of his son John as a merchant. I hope to find something about Thomas Pettus II of Virginia, who went to Holland before 1687.
