Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
As of yesterday, I have received 204 pre-paid orders for volume 1 of my two volume book, Thomas Petyous of Norwich, England, and His Pettus Descendants in England and Virginia. This book spans eleven generations of Pettuses beginning with Thomas Petyous, freeman of Norwich, England, in 1492. It has a total of 744 pages of which 77 have color pictures, including portraits, personal articles, houses, tombs, monuments, and maps. Other pages have black and white pictures, including many Pettus signatures dating back to the 17th C.
I sent a CD and a printout of my book files to Otter Bay Books, LLC, of Baltimore, MD, and have negotiated a contract to publish 250 copies. The contract includes the option to print 25 or 50 more copies if sales materialize. Based upon advice from the publisher, I should receive the books in about ten weeks (mid-May). I will have to repackage and send them out to subscribers via Media Mail, which might take another couple of weeks. I have some customers overseas, but shipping nearly doubles the cost of the book. Can anyone suggest an economical way of sending books overseas?
