During July, I distributed 220 copies of my book to subscribers and libraries, including the Library of Virginia, the Virginia Historical Society, the Earl Greg Swem Library of the College of William and Mary, the Alderman Library of the University of Virginia, the Library of Congress, the Norfolk Record Office in Norwich, U.K., and the Essex County Record Office in Chelmsford, U.K. One customer purchased two books and donated one to the DAR Library. I will be mailing additional copies to recent subscribers this week.
Besides the copies already mentioned, I am holding about 21 copies for correspondents who say that they are sending a check. This leaves about 48 copies out of the 300 originally ordered. Also, I have about 15 copies on hand from a printer overrun.
Anyone wishing to purchase a copy should contact me for an order form without delay, as I am receiving orders almost daily.
Here are some responses from satisfied readers:
“astounding,” “impressive research,” “beautifully informative history of the Pettus family line,” “detailed work,”
“I cannot sufficiently express my delight in owning this book. It is by far the most valuable book I have found in my genealogical pursuits (other than family pictures, etc.) And it is a good read, as well."
"Just glancing through at the photos, family charts, indices, made my heart
“Thank you for such a thorough book.”
Presently, I am indexing chapter 35 in volume II, which has 37 chapters. I should have the indexes for the remaining chapters done later this week. Then I will have to make sure that the entries are consistent in style from one chapter to the next. I hope to finish the indexing project this month.
