The hour is late, so I will be brief. Yes, Theodore Pettus of Jamestown was the brother of Col. Thomas Pettus of Littletown plantation on the James River. So far as I can determine, the Pettus family of England had only one Theodore Pettus. As mentioned previously, the brothers were sons of Thomas Pettus, mayor of Norwich, England, in 1614, and his wife Cecily King. Thomas was the son of Thomas Pettus, mayor of Norwich in 1590 and his wife Christian Dethick. You mentioned a "Pettus book," but you didn't identify the author. My book, copies of which are in the Library of Congress, the Library of Virginia, the Earl Greg Swem Library of th College of William and Mary, the Alderman Library of the University of Virginia, and the Virginia Room of the Fairfax Library, was written partially to refute certain unsupported conclusions found in earlier publications. My conclusions are based upon extensive research into extant records in Virginia, England, and even Netherlands. Volume I, which covers all the Pettuses mentioned above, has extensive biographies of them (to the degree records permit). Copies of this book are still available from me if you are interested in ordering one.
